Making Sense of Our World

Welcome to Dr. Christiansen Science Resources, a space where real classroom experience meets advanced scientific know-how. I am Dr. Matt Christiansen, and I am here to provide you with time saving, high impact science resources built on a foundation you can completely trust. Holding an EdD in Teaching and Learning alongside BS and MS degrees in Chemistry gives my curriculum a unique grounding in both high level science content and research-backed pedagogy.

Empowering Student Scientists

My instructional style is built on challenging students to act like scientists using materials that are immediately relevant to their lives. We move far beyond isolated topics and rote memorization. Instead, my instruction is deeply driven by the K-12 Framework. Every resource is designed to force students to actively use science and engineering practices alongside crosscutting concepts to figure out core scientific ideas.

Uncovering Science Through Phenomena

Science only matters when it is relevant. To answer the constant classroom question of why we are learning this, every unit is framed by compelling, real-world phenomena. Whether we are exploring global events or the technology students use every day, my priority is uncovering science rather than simply covering it. By structuring lessons as cohesive storylines, these resources engage curiosity, demand active participation, and empower students to build their own authentic understanding.

A Global Systemic Perspective

Outside the classroom, I love to travel and immerse myself in new places. Exploring cities across Colombia and beyond continuously opens my perspective on how the many systems on Earth work together. It highlights how our daily decisions profoundly affect local and global social, environmental, and cultural networks. I actively incorporate this larger systemic thinking into the curriculum work you will find in my storylines, helping students recognize their place in a deeply interconnected world.
